What is the 'Kiwi food'...now?

Part of our latest New Zealand trip was to discover what kiwi food is all about.

Wikipedia said '...the cuisine of New Zealand is a diverse British-based cuisine, with Mediterranean and Pacific Rim influences'

but if you ask most kiwi 'Strong (food) influences came from the Māori culture'

Introducing 'hangi' - which is actually a traditional Māori method of cooking food using heated rocks buried in a pit oven. Though there are few select restaurants who still serve hangi food, you can now only see this during special occasions.

So what is a New Zealand cuisine...NOW?

It is pretty much close to the British (fish n' chips) but there is really a strong influence that is now fast emerging...

Kiwi food now has a lot of Pacific and Asian influences and from what we saw, this is because of the thriving immigrant communities who have gone to New Zealand. It is evident that they are embracing the lifestyle and merging their own culture.
